Counselling for Couples
“Partners may use different words but they’re always asking the same questions, “Are you there for me? Do I matter to you? Will you come when I need you?” – Dr. Sue Johnson, creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples
There are many challenges to be navigated in the lifespan of a partnership. This is a reality for all couples and it can be difficult at times to sort through the conflicts, hurt, and upset on your own, despite your best efforts. The bond between two people navigating life together is one of the most important attachment relationships you will experience in life and is worthy of the support and guidance that can be provided by a compassionate and unbiased professional.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach to helping couples enhance, repair and grow their relationship. Unproductive patterns of interaction are identified, and new skills and tools introduced with the goal of increasing the emotional safety, security and connectedness in the relationship.
An EFT approach can help couples navigate any life challenge including conflicts about money, parenting, family, addiction, health issues, communication issues, infidelity and other traumatic events. I would welcome the opportunity to help you navigate towards a happier, more connected relationship.
