About
Kelly Appleby, MSW, RSW
Welcome, it’s lovely to meet you!
I have worked in mental health as a Registered Social Worker for 18 years, helping people recognize, acknowledge and heal from trauma and challenging life experiences. My work is informed by extensive knowledge and training in trauma and adverse life experiences as well as the evidence-based therapies that support healing from a mind, body, and spirit perspective.
Personal growth and healing happens in the context of safe, respectful, and accepting relationships. My knowledge is supported by a foundational belief in and ability to create warm, compassionate and trusting spaces that promote open exploration, goal-setting, and courageous personal growth.
I earned my Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Western Ontario in 2001 and my Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto in 2002. I am a registered member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. My work with clients is guided by a trauma and attachment informed perspective, utilizing modalities such as;
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Dialectical Behaviour therapy
- Compassion-Focused Therapy
- Emotionally Focused Therapy
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Therapy
- Somatic Experiencing
- EMDR
- Internal Family Systems
I am firmly grounded in the belief that personal growth and healing is an ongoing journey for all of us. My own healing journey has provided me with the opportunity to show up with humanity, presence, humility, and authenticity.
